National Democratic Alliance candidate from Presidential poll Draupadi Murmu will visit Ranchi on July 4 and will further go to Bihar on July 5 for garnering support for her for the presidential election. Sources said that Murmu will meet prominent leaders of different political parties including Jharkhand Mukti Morcha Chief Shibu Soren.
As the JMM has not yet announced its support to any candidate among the two filing nomination for the President of India post, it is likely that Murmu will seek support of the ruling party in Jharkhand. Being a tribal herself it is being said that Murmu will get JMM’s support, however the party has not made any official announcement on the issue.
Draupadi Murmu also has a strong Jharkhand connection as she has served the State as its Govenor for over five years. Also, coming from a Santal society, Murmu is likely to get JMM’s support as the party has its strong base in Santhal regions of Jharkhand and Odisha.
Draupadi Murmu had filed her nomination on June 24 in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Union ministers and chief ministers of BJP-ruled states.
A large number of political parties have already announced their support to Murmu and going with the numbers she is almost set to become the first tribal woman President of India.
