The Enforcement Directorate (ED), which is investigating the Archana Nag honey-trap and extortion case, on Wednesday grilled film producer Akshay Parija for a second consecutive day.
Parija's lawyer Akash Bhuiyan, who accompanied him to the ED office, said, "Because we have lodged the complaint, being victim or complainant, whatever information or evidence is sought from us, we will comply with that. We assume there were no financial transactions. Interrogation in connection with blackmailing, conspiracy and extortion is underway.”
“Akshay Parija is an established figure. You should understand that the viral photo could be morphed; and we are going to prove that. We will take the help of law. We are also planning to file a defamation suit. We will fully cooperate with the probe agency,” Bhuyan said.
Archana’s elusive associate Shradhanjali Behera also appeared before the ED after receiving notice of the investigating agency.
Reports said the ED is likely to take Archana on remand for interrogation in connection with the money laundering case. The agency is expected to file a remand petition before court on Thursday.
The ED might simultaneously question Parija, Shradhanjali and Archana’s associate Khageswar Patra and Archana’s husband Jagabandhu Chand.
