Asking the state administration to ensure arrangements for prevention and treatment of COVID-19, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that in districts with high positivity rate, masking up should be effectively mandated.
The chief minister was reviewing the COVID-19 situation in the state in a meeting of Team 9 at Lok Bhawan here in Lucknow on Tuesday.
He said the progress of the vaccination campaign is satisfactory but there is a need to expedite the immunisation of children in the age group of 12-14 years and giving booster doses to those above 18 years.
“We have to be vigilant about the safety of children. In every case, it should be ensured that not a single citizen is deprived of the vaccine. The general public should be made aware about the importance of booster dose,” the CM said.
The chief minister was apprised that in the last 24 hours, 129 new cases of fresh infection were reported while during the same period, 202 patients were discharged. At present, the number of active cases of corona in the state is 1,024.
Till Monday, 96.30 per cent adolescents in the age group of 15-17 years have received the first dose of Covid vaccine and 72.01 per cent adolescents have received the second dose. More than 64.16 lakh children in the age group of 12-14 years have received the first dose of vaccine and more than 13.08 lakh children have received the second More than 29.62 lakh people have been given booster doses.
