Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena on Saturday visited the site of the upcoming Bharat Vandana Park in Dwarka, and directed officials to ensure the "highest standards" of construction in the project.

The park coming up in the Dwarka sub-city will be spread over 220 acres. It will be a major tourist attraction as it will have replicas of important monuments from different states, an eco-forest zone, and lakes, officials said.

The Delhi L-G, who is also the chairman of the Delhi Development Authority, tweeted pictures from his site visit.

"Took an on-site stock of the works & progress at the ambitious upcoming Bharat Vandana Park in Dwarka. Stressed on pristine quality & instructed officials from @official_dda & NBCC to try complete the project before scheduled deadline, ensuring highest standards of construction," he said.

As per the statement released by the LG office, “After undertaking a round of and witnessing the civil works in progress, the LG directed senior officials of the DDA and NBCC present on the occasion to ensure highest standards of construction through constant quality controls and checks. He also warned the officials that no compromise in quality will be accepted.”

“Asking the officials to try and complete the project for dedication to the nation and the city before the scheduled deadline, Saxena said that he will personally monitor physical progress through site visits on a monthly basis,” it said. “Satisfied with the progress made so far, despite the pandemic related lockdowns and periodic pollution related bans on construction in the city, the LG said that this iconic project will not only bring about a sea change in the landscape of the area but also emerge as a world class recreational and educational tourist destination for residents of Delhi and its visitors alike,” the statement said.

“The LG underlined that its timely completion and public dedication during the ongoing Aazadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM), will be a befitting tribute to commemorate 75 years of our independence in line with the theme of "Action" and "Achievement" enunciated by the Prime Minister,” the statement further said.
