Former Aska MLA Saroj Padhi has gone missing
from his house in Bhubaneswar. Padhi’s son Sangeet Padhi on Friday
lodged a missing report at the Capital police station stating that his
father has disappeared since May 12.
According to the missing report by Sangeet, his father had left home at 8
am on May 11 and didn’t return. He had gone to his house at Unit 6 in
Bhubaneswar and from there he went incommunicado.
“We suspect he has been kidnapped as he was upset for the last few days
over frequent phone calls he had been receiving. When he left home, he
took his mobile phone, but it is now answering ‘switched off’,” said
Sangeet.
City DCP Prateek Singh said he was hopeful that the former MLA
would be traced soon.
Singh said messages had been flashed to police units across the State
and Padhi’s description details circulated. Police are constantly in touch
with his family members and relatives. They are also looking for him at
railway stations, bus-stands and airports.
