The security forces, who have stepped up area dominance operation after the Maoists in an ambush martyred three CRPF personnel, seized a large quantity of explosives from the Patadhar forest in Nuapada district on Sunday
During a search operation conducted by security personnel, four tiffin bombs and other explosives were recovered near Patadhara forest. All the explosives were diffused by the explosive experts, sources said.
It is suspected that the rebels had stored the explosives with an intention to target the security forces in future.
On Tuesday, the three CRPF jawans were martyred in the Maoist ambush at Patadhara reserve forest under Nuapada's Boden block. The ultras had earlier warned against the newly set up CRPF camp at Patadhara and had put up banners and posters in the area.
On Thursday, a Maoist camp was busted during a joint operation by a team of security forces comprising Kalahandi police, SOG and DVF jawans at Labanagada forest. The ultras had fired upon security forces using LMG and other automatic weapons. But due fierce retaliation by the security forces they were forced to flee from the spot.
Acting on a creditable input regarding the presence of the Maoists, the joint operation was launched by the security forces in the region.
