Taking action on the spot, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Friday told officials to file a FIR against an Agriculture Department officer on a farmer’s complaint.
During the ‘Bhent-Mulaqat’ Programme in Makdi, Baghel clarified that no one will be spared if they cheat farmers.
“The persons who grab farmers’ money cannot roam free. They will immediately be sent to jail. Any incident of fraud with farmers will be thoroughly investigated and immediate action will be taken,” he told the farmers after a complaint from one of them.
He said the concerned officers have been instructed to take strict action so that such officials are taught a lesson.
“Welfare of the farmers is the topmost priority of my government. We are committed to provide the right price for their produce.”
A farmer earlier lodged a complaint against Additional Agriculture Extension Officer A.K. Tandon. The police then lodged a FIR, an official communiqué later said.
