Floods triggered by incessant rains for the last six days have wreaked havoc in Dasarathpur and Jajpur blocks of Jajpur district with thousands of people have been seriously affected.
The loss of property and damage to the farmlands has become their plight.
River Kani created a breach at Bamacharipatana under Dasarathpur block on Tuesday. As a result, a large number of people were marooned. This has paralysed life in the low-lying areas.
The flood-hit people are facing cute shortage of food and drinking water. The children are the worst-hit and left starving.
Jajpur Collector Chakravarti Singh Rathore, Ministers Pramila Mallick and Pritiranjan Ghadai, MLAs Ashok Bal and Sunanda Das visited the flood-hit areas and took stock of the situation.
