In order to keep an eye on the disturbances in the distribution of ration in the State, preparations are being made by the State Government to take the help of GPS systems.

Talking to the Pioneer Food Supply Minister, Rameshwar Oraon said that after the complaint of PDS shopkeepers and beneficiaries are getting less food grains, a new system is being implemented by the State Government. The vehicles lifting food grains from the Government godowns and other centres will be monitored through GPS tracking system, he added.

“The vehicles carrying the ration will have a GPS tracking system. For this, a plan is being worked out to set up a command and control room in the State Food and Civil Supplies Corporation Limited. Through this, the Government will keep an eye on the movement of these vehicles. Tender has been issued by the Government for setting up of GPS based vehicle tracking system and command and control centre,” he added.

There are total Priority Household Ration Card (PHH) in the State are 5112 307, total family members in PHH card are 22906422, Antyodaya Ration Card holders are 896614 in the State, member in Antyodaya ration card holder family are 3519024, White Ration Card holders are 372792, Member in white ration card holder family are 1404506, Green Ration Card holder are 461292 in the State and Member in the family holding Green Ration Card are 1478083.

In this year's distribution under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana, Rice 80686 quintals and Wheat 27853 quintals and Salt 1292 quintals distributed from a total 25093 dealers in the State till end of September.

To ensure proper access to all the shops of the Public Distribution System from the ration godowns taken up by the Jharkhand State Food and Civil Supplies Corporation Ltd.

The food is brought from the godowns of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) to the godowns of the Jharkhand State Food and Civil Supplies Corporation Limited which are in all the districts and blocks of the State. After this it is delivered to the dealers. To do this work, contractors are appointed in the district through tender. They deliver ration from their vehicles to the dealer. Now those vehicles will have GPS systems.

On the way, 5 to 10 kg of ration is taken out from all the sacks through Bomban. Then water is added to make it equal in weight.
