Former manager of UPSIDC held in Rs 4.56 crore scam

A former manager of Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation Limited (UPSIDC), SK Tripathi, was arrested in Lucknow by the sleuths of the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of UP Police for embezzlement of over Rs 4.5 crore in the supply of chlorine tablets.

According to the reports, after facilitating a fake certificate from the Directorate of Industries by M/s Era Enterprises, Lucknow, SK Tripathi, the former manager of UPSIDC has been accused of embezzlement of over Rs 4.56 crore in the supply of chlorine tablets and other materials.

Cases have been registered in this regard at the Sarojininagar police station in Lucknow and Kakadeo police station in Kanpur Nagar.

The team of EOW (Sector Kanpur) was investigating the cases registered at both the police stations. Seven accused, including the owner of M/s Ira Enterprises, were wanted out of which one accused, SK Tripathi, was arrested with the help of local police here on Thursday.

Further investigations are on and two teams have been formed to nab the remaining accused.

The EOW will seek custody of the accused to extract details of others involved in the scam.
