Uttarakhand Special Task Force (STF) has arrested four accused from Udham Singh Nagar for allegedly giving shelter to one of the absconding accused of the Punjab bomb blast at Pathankot in November last year. According to the STF, the arrested accused and the absconding criminal were also in touch with a Canadian resident who is associated with Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF).

The officials informed that a team was working on the secret inputs associated with the bomb blast incidents in Punjab last year under the guidance of the Director General of Police (DGP) of Uttarakhand, Ashok Kumar. The STF arrested four accused on Friday from Udham Singh Nagar who had allegedly provided shelter to the accused of the bomb blast Sukhpreet and helped him to seek a safe hideout from the authorities. The arrested accused include two 24-year-old men Harpreet Singh and Gurpal Singh who belong to Ramnagar village in Udham Singh Nagar and Rampur district in Uttar Pradesh respectively. The other two accused are 26-year-old Shamsher Singh and 30-year-old Ajmer Singh and both belong to Udham Singh Nagar. The STF also recovered a pistol and a car that was being used to take the absconding accused Sukhpreet from one place to another. The officials informed that the four accused were also connected with some dubious people from Canada, Australia and Serbia through international WhatsApp calls and Sukhpreet was also connected to them. The STF has filed an FIR against the arrested accused in Pantnagar police station for providing shelter to absconding Sukhpreet alias Sukhi and making arrangements to send him to a safe hideout under Section 19 Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 and Section 25 in Arms Act. The STF informed that information revealed by the four men is being shared with national agencies and the state police and not much can be revealed publically in view of the national interest.
