GBC-3 to change landscape of healthcare, allied sectors in UP

Large-scale investments in the healthcare and allied field in Uttar Pradesh are going to change the landscape of this sector in the coming years, as is emerging from the proposals presented at the third groundbreaking ceremony (GBC-3) held in Lucknow earlier this month.

The sectors include healthcare, pharmaceutical production and medical supplies sector.

A look at sector-wise distribution of proposals indicates that there are 65 projects in the pharmaceutical and medical supplies and eight mega projects in the healthcare sector, with proposed investment going up to Rs 800 crore. The projects with total investments of Rs 2,205 crore are slated for various districts of the state. The projects in pharmaceuticals and medical supplies sector have a total investment of Rs 1,088 crore, thus bringing the total investment in healthcare and allied sectors to Rs 3,293 crore.

This means that in the coming years, several new hospitals, diagnostic centres, pharmaceutical production and medical supplies units will start functioning in different parts of the state. With the increase in the number of medical colleges all over the state, this will lead to tremendous improvement in healthcare, including availability of hospital beds, medicines, oxygen and other things.

The Yashoda Foundation proposes to set up two big facilities. The first is Yashoda Foundation's Mediciti Super Speciality and Cancer Hospital in Ghaziabad, at a proposed investment of Rs 800 crore. This Yashoda Medicity will be a 500-bedded, quaternary care super specialty and cancer hospital. Slated to be completed by January 2024, it will create 4,250 jobs.

The second project is Yashoda Foundation's Biotech Park proposed in Greater Noida. This project includes Yashoda Hospital and Research Centre with a hospital and bio-tech park which would include a biotech and information technology (IT) hub, a 250-bedded tertiary care super specialty hospital, commercial and residential buildings etc. The proposed investment on this project is Rs 525 crore. There will be a creation of 450 jobs when the project is completed by March 2024.

The Shanti Foundation Trust proposes to set up a hospital in Maharajganj at a proposed investment of Rs 400 crore. It is expected to lead to generation of 800 jobs and is expected to be completed by June 2023.

Other projects are Dev Pharmacy Pvt Ltd in Noida (Rs 180 crore); Felix Healthcare Pvt Ltd Hospital, Noida (Rs 150 crore); Muskaan Medical Center Pvt Ltd, Noida (Rs 120 crore); Mylo Healthcare Pvt Ltd, Noida (Rs 165 crore) and Shri Siddhi Vinyak Trust Hospital, Sambhal (Rs 165 crore.)

There are 65 projects of pharmaceutical and medical supplies in different districts. The total investment on these projects is to the tune of Rs 1,088 crore. The multinational company Air Liquide North India Private Limited plans to invest Rs 300 crore in Mathura district. The project is scheduled to start in November 2023 and it will offer employment to 155 persons.

Another company, Q-Line Biotech Private Limited, is investing Rs 200 crore in Lucknow. The opening date is in phases, that is from July 2022 to April 2023. The total employment expected is 500 persons.

In Noida, the proposed projects are Kamax Beauty Pvt Limited (Rs 15 crore); Kanidi Biotech Llp (Rs 53 crore), OJB Herbals Private Limited (Rs 11 crore); RGI Meditech Private Limited (Rs 25.4 crore) and Unicure India Limited (Rs 47 crore.)

The projects in Lucknow are Kunal Remedies Private Limited (Rs 24 crore) and SRS Health Care (Rs 45 crore.) Other projects are: Herbochem Industries Private Limited, Barabanki (Rs 18 crore); G S Pharmbutor Private Limited, Ghaziabad (Rs 20 crore); Saral Chemtech Llp, Muzaffarnagar (Rs 40 crore), Inox Air Products Private Limited, Rae Bareli (Rs 50 crore), and Gladius Meditech Private Limited, Sitapur (Rs 27 crore).
