Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel on Saturday prorogued the monsoon session of the UP Assembly.
The governor, exercising the powers under Article 174 of the Constitution, prorogued the monsoon session, which was the second session this year of the 18th UP Assembly.
The session commenced on September 19 and concluded on September 23.
In a first of its kind historic move, the monsoon session had a women-only day. The focus of the day was on women members of the Vidhan Sabha who spoke on that day. They raised women’s issues and issues related to their respective constituencies.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath informed the women legislators in a letter about the government’s Mission Shakti programme as well as other initiatives focusing on women and girls, such as the CM Samoohik Vivah Yojana and Kanya Sumangala Yojana. Forty-seven female members of the assembly had participated in the special proceedings.
