Govt inks MoU with Azim Premji Foundation for setting up varsity

Higher and Technical Education Department, Government of Jharkhand and Azim Premji Foundation today signed an MoU in the august presence of Chief Minister Hemant Soren here for the establishment of Azim Premji University in Ranchi (Itki). On this occasion, Azim Premji Foundation Chairman-cum- Founder of IT Company Wipro, Azim Premji was present through video conferencing.

 

On this occasion, CM Hemant Soren said that today is a historic day for Jharkhand. Today, with the mutual coordination and cooperation of the State Government and the Azim Premji Foundation, a new beginning is being made in the field of education. “I have full faith that the establishment of a university in Jharkhand by an experienced organization like Azim Premji Foundation will not only raise the standard of higher education in the State, but also the talented students of the State will not have to migrate to other states for higher education. The establishment of Azim Premji University would prove to be a milestone in the all-round development of Jharkhand including the students studying in the state,” he said thanking the President of Azim Premji Foundation, Azim Premji and expressed his gratitude towards him.

 

On this occasion, the CM told the President of Azim Premji Foundation, “You, along with a well-known industrialist, have a sense of service for the upliftment of the society. Your experience and cooperation will bring better results for a State like Jharkhand. With your positive thinking and better guidance, Azim Premji University is being established in Itki, Ranchi. All of us are making efforts together for the benefit of your experience to the people of the state. Azim Premji Foundation has worked to connect a large group of new generations with them. It is the effort of the State government that the further work for the establishment of the university should be completed at a fast pace.”

 

The CM said that by setting up a private university in Jharkhand, it would be possible to provide knowledgeable and employable education to the economically backward students living in rural areas, especially in their own state. It is the goal of the state government to provide quality, knowledgeable and employable education to the children here, efforts are being made rapidly in this regard. The CM said that world class educational facilities would be provided to the students in the Azim Premji University Educational Institute, which is going to be opened on the lines of Bangalore and Bhopal.

 

Soren said that there is a lot of potential in the youth of the State. The youth of the state are also showcasing their talent in the field of sports and higher education, it is only necessary that a better platform can be provided to the youth power of the state to move forward. He said that with the establishment of Azim Premji University, the youth of here would move forward in the field of modern education along with research based education and would play an important role in the development of the state. On this occasion, the CM also extended a warm invitation to the President of Azim Premji Foundation, Azim Premji, to visit Jharkhand. On the occasion, Premji accepted the invitation of the CM and said that he would come to Jharkhand in the last month of 2022.

 

On this occasion, through video conferencing, Azim Premji Foundation's Chairman, Azim Premji said, “I want to work fully dedicatedly for the development and upliftment of the people of Jharkhand. The foundation would work in a planned manner by coordinating with the state government in many different areas along with the establishment of only universities in Jharkhand, qualitative improvement in the educational level. The Azim Premji Foundation is recognized as a charitable institution. Our organization will work with commitment for the upliftment of every section in Jharkhand. Our organization is not working here in project mode but for long term mode. There is a need to plan and work for the creation of maximum employment in the State. Azim Premji Foundation will work step by step with the state government with the aim of all round development of the state.”

 

Expressing his gratitude to the CM, he said, “The government led by you has fully cooperated in the establishment of Azim Premji University in Ranchi. I hope that the State government will continue to cooperate in the future also.”

 

On this occasion Health Minister Banna Gupta, Mandar MLA Shilpi Neha Tirkey, Chief Secretary Sukhdev Singh, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Rajiv Arun Ekka, Secretary to Chief Minister Vinay Kumar Choubey, Secretary of Higher and Technical Education Department Rahul Purwar, Director Higher and Technical Education Suraj Kumar, Joint Secretary, Higher and Technical Education Department Abhay Kumar Sinha, CEO of Azim Premji Foundation Anurag Behar, State Head Kailash Kandpal, Chief University Establishment Officer Harish Shah and Education Head Rakesh Tiwari Including other officials were present.
