Govt invites applications for CM fellowship programme

In order to appoint one research scholar for each of the 100 backward blocks of the state to undertake research and development work, the Uttar Pradesh government has invited applications from eligible candidates for one-year Chief Minister’s fellowship programme in the state.

The state cabinet on July 19 gave its nod to launch Mukhyamantri Fellowship Programme, which aims to connect youth with government policymaking, management, project implementation and monitoring.

The applications for the fellowship programme will be accepted up to August 24.  The applicant should be of 40 years of age or less, must be proficient in reading and writing in Hindi as they will be posted in rural parts of the state.

As per the qualification criteria, an applicant must have completed graduation with at least 60 per cent marks from a reputed university or institute. Those possessing a diploma in rural development, environment and climate, banking and finance, public policy, education, health, sanitation and skill development, energy, tourism and culture, artificial intelligence, information technology, biotechnology, among others, can also apply.

The applicants must also have excellent computer skills, ability to work on information and communication technology applications and have good communication skills.

To apply, the applicants must log on to http://cmfellowship.upsdc.gov.in/. A 500-word statement of purpose will also have to be submitted. Each candidate will be marked on a scale of 75 which will include 50 marks for objective screening and 25 for interview.

The applicants will be given points on the basis of their educational qualification, degree, any national or international award, any special achievement, voluntary work, work experience etc.

With a fellowship of Rs 30,000 per month, each fellow will also get a travel allowance of Rs 10,000 per month and a one-time payment of Rs 15,000 for a tablet. The government is anticipating an expenditure of Rs 5.58 crore on the scheme.
