Govt removes UKSSSC secretary Santosh Badoni

Sunday, 14 August 2022 | PNS | Dehradun

Amid allegations of irregularities in the recruitment examinations and the ongoing investigation of Police in the examination paper leak case of Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UKSSSC), the state government removed the secretary of the Commission Santosh Badoni on Saturday. The Joint secretary, Uttarakhand administration, Surendra Singh Rawat has been appointed in his place. Badoni is a joint secretary rank officer of Secretariat cadre and he has been officiating as Secretary of UKSSSC for many years. In another decision, the state government appointed PCS Officer Shalini Negi as examination controller of the UKSSSC.  She was deputed as deputy collector Uttarkashi.

Questions were being asked from various quarters on the role of secretary UKSSSC Santosh Badoni after many recruitment examinations conducted by the UKSSSC came under cloud. After the recent resignation of the Chairman of the commission S Raju, it was almost certain that Badoni would be removed from his position.

In the examination paper leak case of the UKSSSC, the State Task Force (STF) headed by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ajay Singh has arrested so far 16 persons which include two government employees posted in the state secretariat.
The STF had arrested six persons in the sensational case on July 24. The police have already arrested Abhishek Verma who was a data entry operator in an outsource company and it believes that he is the main conspirator in the case. He has accepted his involvement in the paper leak of UKSSSC. On Wednesday, the STF had arrested Additional personal secretary Gaurav Chauhan.
