In an unusual scene, a groom rode a bicycle to reach the wedding venue here on Wednesday evening. Subhranshu Samal, a resident of Unit-3 in the city, took everyone by surprise as he paddled all the way to the venue on his wedding day.
Samal, who married a girl of the same locality, did so opposing the hike in fuel price. He also had an intention of spreading environmental awareness.
Even as his family members arranged a proper marriage procession with DJ music, he resorted to bicycling instead of covering the distance in a car as done by grooms usually.
“I and my friends usually discuss about the issue of rise in fuel price. They had suggested me this unique idea of bicycling on the wedding day. The motive of this act was to express displeasure over the high fuel prices and spread awareness regarding environmental welfare,” he said.
“The reaction of public towards the idea was amazing. Several persons clicked selfies with me during the procession and praised me,” he added.
