Guidelines issued for R-Day

With the Republic Day celebration round the corner in the national Capital, the Delhi Police on Monday issued important guidelines stating that those attending the parade will have to bring their vaccine certificate, follow Covid-19 appropriate behaviour and co-operate with the security staff.

Taking to Twitter, the Delhi Police urged all the visitors attending the Republic Day celebrations to follow Covid-19 appropriate behaviour. Listing its guidelines, the Delhi Police tweeted that the seating blocks will open fit visitors at 7 am and they are requested to arrive accordingly.

"It is necessary to have both disses of anti-corona vaccine, visitors are requested to bring the vaccine certificate," it tweeted.

The force has strictly said that children below 15 years of age are not allowed in the function.

Since parking is limited, visitors have been advised to use carpool or taxi. The are also requested to carry a valid ID card and co-operate in the security check, it said.

"There will be provision for depositing remote controlled car lock keys in each parking area," the Delhi Police tweeted.

On Sunday, the Delhi Police Commissioner  Rakesh Asthana said that over 27,000 police personnel have been deployed for security duties in the national capital and anti-terror measures intensified.

These personnel include deputy commissioners of police, assistant commissioners of police and inspectors, sub-inspectors. Armed Police Force personnel and commandos, officers and jawans of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) have also been deployed, he said.

Briefing the media about the Republic Day security arrangements, Asthana on Sunday said a total of 27,723 Delhi Police personnel including 71 DCPs, 213 ACPs and 753 inspectors have been deployed in the capital for the Republic Day parade. They are being assisted by 65 companies of CAPFs.

He mentioned that the anti-terror measures taken includes blockades (nakka bandi) at various places, checking of vehicles, hotels, lodges and dharamshalas and various verification drives like that of tenants, servants, labourers. So, in the last two months, the anti-terror measures have been intensified intensively.

Counter Drone technology is being used for air space security. The security in and around the area where the Republic Day celebrations will take place has also been secured with the help of Delhi Police along with other agencies, he said.

Along with creating awareness, Asthana said that through social media, they also put out facts and important information so that no anti-social elements run a misinformation campaign, Asthana asserted.

About traffic arrangements, he said an advisory had already been issued stating specific restrictions on routes so that no inconvenience is caused to the general public.
