Hazaribag collectorate to be decorated with Sohrai, Kohbar arts

Hazaribag district administration has decided to decorate the boundary wall and the pillars of collectorate with Sohrai and Kohbar art forms. The administration has invited famous artists of Barkagaon block of the district. The artists have started their work of painting.

 

Deputy commissioner Nancy Sahay said that there are so many offices, which are decorated with this art. The old building of collectorate was also furnished with the sohrai art. The government buildings are also decorated with this already.

 

She further said, “We have already issued the letter to all the government, semi-government offices to be decorated with this art. We have also requested the public undertaking offices for the same.”

 

She said that this art is already famous at the National and International level. This is our duty to give full honour to this art. In the art the artist shows the cows, horse, botanical aspects, birds, jungle and tribal culture and others in the art.

 

The building of the new collectorate has three floors. All the floors will be decorated with the Sohrai and Kohbar arts. The artists are using the black, white, green and green colours in the painting of both the arts.

 

The women artists who are doing the painting of Jharkhand culture namely Rukmani Devi, Sushma Devi and Babita Devi. Hazaribag railway station is also decorated with this art.

 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the art and also mentioned this art in the “Man Ki Baat” programme.
