The Hindalco has taken several healthcare initiatives as part of its community engagement in Sambalpur.

Cluster Head of Hindalco, Sambalpur Kailash Pandey informed that under the company’s Health Care at Doorstep’ programme (Mobile Health Care Units), it is according free diagnosis and medicines.

In response to people’s needs, three mega multispecialty health camps were held recently at Larpank village and Hirakud. Gynecology, Medicine, Pediatrics, Skin, ENT, and Cancer care services were provided to 1,500 patients. Alongside, two mega blood donation camps were organised by the company to cater to the critical need for blood in Sambalpur DHH and VIMSAR, Burla in which more than304 and 270 blood units were collected.

Dental and women’s health screening camp was held. 300 patients availed of its services. Besides, the company in partnership with the Hirakud hospital has been engaged in camps and cataract surgeries for senior citizens in Hirakud and adjoining areas of the Sambalpur district. The programme thus far has seen close to 150 vision care operations and over 300 specialist OPD clinics at the Hirakud Hospital during the past three years.

During the 2nd and 3rd wave of the pandemic, Hindalco supported the District Administration and Health Department with 50 jumbo cylinders, 20 oxygen concentrators, 4,000 antigen kits, 100 PPE KITs , five ICU beds, 11 ambulances, injections, medicines and four Bolero jeeps etc. These programmes were organised under the supervision and coordination of Head HR of Hirakud complex Krishna Padhi and Chief Medical Officer Dr Subrata Chatterjee.
