‘DECLARE NETAJI BIRTH ANNIV NAT’L HOLIDAY’
Bhubaneswar: Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose deserves due respect, demanded the Protection of Democratic Human Rights of India (PDHRI) on Saturday. The Prime Minister and the Chief Minister have been tweeted in this regard. PDHRI central secretary Lingaraj Sahoo said, “In his honour, Netaji’s photograph should be printed on currency notes. Besides, Netaji's birth anniversary (January 23) should be declared a national holiday and courses on Netaji should be included in school curriculum. Moreover, four bogies of a train should be converted into a mobile museum showcasing Netaji’s struggle for freedom.”
Driver hurt as car falls of BBSR flyover
Bhubaneswar: The driver of a speeding car was critically injured as the vehicle plunged off the Palaspalli flyover here late on Friday late night. His identity was yet to be ascertained. The driver lost control over the wheels, leading to the mishap. Locals rescued him and rushed him to the Capital Hospital. Police reached the spot and started a probe into the incident.
WEB LINK HEAD HELD ON SLANDER CHARGE
Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate police on Saturday arrested a web channel editor for allegedly spreading misinformation on social media against a DAV Public School. On basis of a complaint lodged by the school authorities a few days back, the Chandrasekharpur police summoned Metro TV editor Prakash Rath. Despite repeated notices, Rath failed to depose before police. Also, he continued writing against the school on social media. After registering a case against Rath under Sections 467, 469, 500 and 504 of IPC and Section 67 of IT Act, police arrested Rath and forwarded him to court.
