International Nurses Day is being observed annually to celebrate the contributions of nurses and in
the same series Bokaro General Hospital (BGH) celebrated International Nurses Day at their Nursing
School campus .The day holds all the more significance amid the pandemic when doctors and nurses
have emerged as our heroes for their unparalleled often hectic work in safeguarding public health.
At BGH Chief Medical Officer in-charge (Medical and Health Services) Dr. Pankaj Sharma was the
chief guest at the function. During the program, Chief Medical Officer (Medical and Health Services)
Dr. P Pandey, CMO (Medical and Health Services) Dr. B.B. Karunamoy along with senior doctors of
the hospital, Nursing Superintendent Mariamma and other doctors and students of Nursing School
were present.
The guests started the function by lighting the lamp. The Principal of Nursing School, Bharti Ganguly
welcomed the guests and threw light on the background of Nurses Day. After this the senior Nurses
of the school presented a song followed by cultural programs presented by the Junior Nurses which
included group dance, folk dance, etc. While addressing the function, Dr. Pankaj Sharma, Dr. P.
Pandey and Dr. B. B. Karunamoy appreciated the contribution of the Nurses and encouraged them to
perform their duty continuously with complete dedication. The program was conducted by DCMO
(Medical and Health Services) Dr. Tripti Chandra and vote of thanks was given by Dr. Varsha
Ghanekar, Additional CMO. It is noteworthy that Nurses went above and beyond their everyday
tasks to console patients in distress and provide them with the care and bravery they needed to
combat the unprecedented pandemic of Covid.
