: The Jagannath Temple here would reopen for public entry from February 1 with adherence to the Covid restrictions, said district
Collector Samarth Verma after a meeting of Chatisanijog, a servitors’
body, of the shrine.
Due to the rising Covid-19 cases, the temple had been declared closed for devotees from January 10 to 31.
However, as earlier, every Sunday the temple would remain closed for public due to weekly sanitisation of its premises.
Verma told that keeping in mind the wishes of devotees besides the livelihood issue of local people, a decision on the temple’s reopening was taken.
The meeting chaired by Chief Administrator of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Dr Krishan Kumar on virtual mode, also discussed the upcoming festivals besides rites and rituals of the holy Trinity and issued some guidelines in this regard.
The devotees have to produce the second dose vaccine certificates before entry into the shrine.
Local businessmen in general and the hotel and transport sectors in particular mainly depend on the Jagannath devotees from all parts of the world for their survival.
