JTDS working excellent for PVTG’s socio-economic development

Jharkhand Tribal Empowerment and Livelihood Project (JTELP) proved to be a boon to the tribal community where special emphasis was laid on their integrated development. A total of 15426 tribal families have been benefited under the project.

 

This project started in Jharkhand since the year 2015 in 14 Tribal Sub Plan districts being run, whose main purpose is social and economic development of the Scheduled Tribes, especially the vulnerable tribal groups.

 

This project is run by the Jharkhand Tribal Development Society (JTDS), a unit of the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Minorities and Backward Classes Welfare Department, Government of Jharkhand.

 

Under the project the beneficiaries are getting irrigation facilities like Well, Chuan, Dobha and Pond construction and apart from this they are also getting livelihood facilities like Goat rearing, Poultry and Pig farming, Solar lantern, Low Smoke Cook Stove and Barbatti farming and its marketing.

 

The activities of the project have brought a ray of confidence in their lives. Now these people are not migrating for their livelihood and they are taking care of their families by doing farming and animal husbandry in their respective villages. They earn some income by selling their product in Hatia.

 

Under JTELP Barbatti farming is going on in a total area of 12, 000 acre of land and around 8500 people are getting benefit from it in Godda, Dumka, Pakur and Sahebganj district of the State. Through the Horticulture Development programme under JTELP around 8, 500 people are getting benefit and it is covering a total area of 12,000 acres in Godda, Dumka, Pakur and Sahebganj district of the State.

 

 

 

JTDS also promotes farming work under JTELP and around 8500 people are getting benefits in Godda, Dumka, Pakur and Sahebganj district of the State. The tribal people are also getting benefit of Goat Farming in their respective villages. Under this scheme around 1, 000 people are getting benefits in Godda, Dumka, Pakur and Sahebganj district of the State.

 

JTDS is also providing Smokeless Stoves for the people living in remote areas of the State so that they could get new technology of cooking. Around 1, 000 people are getting benefits through this programme in Godda, Dumka, Pakur and Sahebganj district.

 

Targeting the Hard Core Poor (THP) project the JTDS is running the scheme in 4 districts of Santhal Parganas namely Dumka, Godda, Sohebganj and Pakur, under which 5000 women head families were identified and assets were provided to them in the form of livestock and shops, due to which the possibilities of their economic development have emerged. The project resulted in 231.30 per cent of asset growth in these households. At present these women are living independently and taking care of their families.

 

Conservation Cum Development (CCD) is also an important scheme running by JTDS in 14 districts for primitive tribal families Livestock Distribution Work by which these families are improving their standard of living by generating income from livestock under this scheme. Under the scheme in 14 TSP district Duck rearing with 594 families, goat rearing with 786 families and pig rearing with 148 families is being done. Simultaneously, under the same scheme, 2000 families with various Income Generating Activities like Agriculture, Livestock and other works are being done.
