Khelo India Youth Games: NADA creates awareness against doping among sportspersons

The National Anti-Doping Agency, which works to promote the dope-free sport in the country, has been raising awareness against doping among sportspersons and those concerned during the ongoing Khelo India Youth Games. NADA India, in association with the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Haryana’s Directorate of Sports on Sunday organized an awareness workshop.

Commonwealth Games gold medallist Satish Sivalingam encouraged all the players to stay away from banned substances. He also shared some personal experiences of his life with the       players.

NADA India briefed about anti-doping rule violations, medical use waivers, and Speak-Up initiatives during the workshop.

Brig (Doctor) Bibhu Kalyan Nayak also suggested to take special care during the medical examination. The workshop is part of the National Anti-Doping Agency's education and awareness campaign.

Meanwhile, Haryana Sports Minister Sandeep Singh on Sunday felicitated the winning players of the ongoing Khelo India Youth Games and wished them best for their future.

The Minister, who reached Tau Devi Lal Stadium at Panchkula and met the players and teams of different sports, also took stock of the entire system and arrangements. Sandeep Singh, an ace hockey player of his time, also watched the Kabaddi match, a wrestling match, besides witnessing the musical performance of various Yogasanas given by the players.

Sandeep Singh congratulated Haryana’s Ankit, who won a gold medal in wrestling in 60 kg weight category, Haryana’s Ashish who won a silver medal, and Ravi and Varun Kumar who won bronze medals.

The Minister also honoured Aranya, who won the gold medal in traditional yoga; Tanvi, who won the silver medal; and Manvi Vyas, who won the bronze medal. Sandeep Singh also honoured Sumit, who won the gold medal in traditional yoga, Rajdeep who won the silver medal; and Dipanshu who won a bronze medal. He wished all the players a very bright future.
