Mallakhamb keeps one physically, mentally fit: CM

Motivating the trainees of Mallakhamb on Wednesday, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said the ancient art makes the practitioner          physically and mentally fit.

He was interacting with Mallakhamb and yoga trainees after dedicating a new indoor stadium in Balod district.

He is on a visit to Balod district as part of his Bhent Mulaqat Abhiyan (direct public interaction), an            official communication said.

Baghel said Mallakhamb helps to develop physical and mental fitness. He asked the trainers to teach them the nuances of gymnastics and yoga. This would help the trainees to perform better.

The Chief Minister  interacted with national players Deepti Sahu, Chanchal Sahu and Prerna Sahu (three sisters), Karun Nayak, Rajkumar Muthai, Veerendra Kumar and Usha Chaudhari.

Training for Kalaripayattu, Wushu, Muay Thai, Kickboxing and Judo are being provided at the indoor facilities. The Ex-servicemen Association is imparting free training.

Rajkumar Sahu, President of the Ex-servicemen Association, said 70 youngsters are being trained for admission in the military and paramilitary forces.

Mallakhamb emerged in the12th century of Maharashtra as a game which ensures                 exercise to the whole body as it requires powerful muscles. The trainees have to climb a straight pole which is oiled.
