Mayawati revamps party organisation

Saturday, 02 July 2022 | PNS | | Lucknow

With an eye on the 2024 parliamentary elections, Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati once again made a major reshuffle in the party organisation. After ending the division system, dividing the state into six parts, the BSP chief has now created a zone of three divisions.

Sources confirmed that two main zonal incharges have been appointed in each zone. Along with this, the post of state in-charge has been abolished.

The BSP supremo had called a meeting of divisional in-charges on Thursday in which the responsibilities given for the expansion of the party organisation were discussed. Till now there was a divisional system in the BSP. Munkad Ali, Rajkumar Gautam and Vijay Pratap were made the three state in-charges to give direct feedback to Mayawati. All these arrangements have been abolished.

In the new system, one zone consists of three divisions, and two main zonal incharges and three to five in-charges have been made on each division. All party work will be looked after at the divisional level and apprised to the chief zonal incharge who will report directly to Mayawati.

The responsibilities of Gorakhpur, Basti and Devipatan have been given to Dinesh Chandra and Sudhir Bharti; of Ayodhya, Varanasi, Azamgarh to Shamsuddin Raine and Madan Ram; of Meerut, Saharanpur and Moradabad to Naushad Ali, Rajkumar Gautam; of Agra, Aligarh and Bareilly to Munkad Ali and Suraj Pal Singh; of Kanpur, Jhansi and Chitrakoot to Vijay Pratap and BB Ambedkar; and of Lucknow, Prayagraj and Mirzapur to Ghanshyam Chandra Kharwar and Akhilesh Ambedkar.

With an eye on elections, instructions have been given to constitute committees in all the bodies. The committees will have leaders of all classes. Based on this, a panel of candidates will be prepared and forwarded to the party headquarters. Only those with strong hold in a constituency will be made party candidate.

The absence of BSP national general secretary Satish Chandra Mishra in Mayawati's meeting was a matter of discussion. He is usually present in all the meetings, especially those chaired by the BSP supremo. Some leaders who attended the meeting confirmed the absence of Mishra.

It may be mentioned that Mayawati, on Thursday, held a meeting with senior office-bearers of all the divisions of the party and asked them to reach out to the people and tell them about the policies of the BSP. She said that it was a matter of grave concern that public interest and public welfare were constantly being affected by the ongoing political instability, deadlock and money power games to overthrow the government in several states, including Maharashtra.

Mayawati also asked the workers to get fully involved in the preparations for the Lok Sabha elections in 2024 and the civic body polls in the state.
