Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena on Saturday inaugurated 15 smart schools of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). The Lt Governor also handed over the regularisation letter to 187 sanitation workers of the civic body who were engaged as daily wages since 1998.
Inaugurating the MCD’ smart class, Saxena said the launch of 15 smart schools of is the beginning of a new chapter which will fully unfold, with all schools of the MCD becoming the best in their category.
“These new Smart Model schools, replete with good building and furniture and IT enabled interactive learning pedagogy reflected the shape that India's and Delhi's future. These schools, also reflected how progressive and positive development is taking place in primary education, where Computer education had become a part and partial of education even at the primary level,” the LG said.
In a separate function, LG handed over the regularisation lletter to 187 sanitation workers of MCD engaged from year 1998 to 2000.
Saxena said the wait of almost 22 years is over as 187 Swachhta Sainiks are being regularised. In future, MCD would regularise the remaining daily wagers and substitutes sanitation workers against the vacant posts in a phased manner.
“MCD had prepared a policy regarding the regularisation of sanitation workers in 1978. In the policy it was decided that MCD will regularise the sanitation workers in a phased manner. As per the policy, temporary sanitation workers were regularised in year 1978, 1982, 1988, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1999, 2000, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 in 2016. After the trifurcation of MCD, 13,124 temporary sanitation workers were regularised by all three corporations. In continuation to this, 187 more daily wagers and substitutes engaged between 1998 to 2000, are being regularised,” Saxena added.
