AICB Natiknal Form For Women, Child And Women Development Society and Sri Ram Chandra Bhanja Deo University, a two-day national workshop on ‘Empowerment of tribal visually-impaired girls and women’ was inaugurated at Baripada College, here.
Principal of +2 stream of the college Anjali Mohapatra welcommed all the guests. VC of Sri Ram Chandra Bhanja Deo University Dr Kishore Basa joined as chief guest.
Chairman of CWDS Major Dr Kalpana Das joined as guest of honor. She said if proper guidance and facilities can be provided to the visually impaired women, then the sky is the limit for them. Dr Manjula Rath of AICB joined as the resource person. Sannyasai Kumar Behera presided and gave a proposal to VC Basa to open a Course for Disable Studies in the university.
Former Principal of MPC Autonomous College Baripada and DLC of Mayurbhanj among others spoke. Important discussions were made on topics like prevention of sexual harassment and rights of Persons with Disability (PwDs). Fifty visually impaired tribals like Santals, Kolha, Bathudi and Bhumija from different blocks of Mayurbhanj and hundreds of people who are working in the field participated.
