Mock drills held amid surge in Covid cases

A mock drill to test medical preparedness to tackle the new cases of Coronavirus infection was conducted at 56 government (CHCs) and private hospitals across the district on Tuesday.

In view of the rapid surge in COVID-19 infections, Deputy Commissioner Bokaro, Kuldeep Chaudhary, was directed to review preparedness to tackle the resurgence, informed DPRO, Bokaro.

At around 11.30 am, mock drills were organized simultaneously in all the government and private hospitals in the district. During the drill, the entire process of bringing the COVID infected patient to the hospital (through ambulance), admitting them to hospital ward, and starting their treatment under supervision of doctors was done,” he added. In this sequence, the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) of COVID, issued by State Government, was adhered to by all.The DC explained that the purpose of mock drill was to assess hospital's preparedness, including beds, equipment, and oxygen. “In course of exercise, I have kept a careful eye on it. It was effectively implemented at 56 healthcare facilities. And  administration is now prepared to deal with any unpleasant scenarios,” he added. Amidst the Omicron scare and restrictions imposed by the state government to contain the surge in coronavirus infections, Bokaro saw a major boost in fresh cases in COVID-19 during the past few days. The district passed the 21 thousand mark. The total number of positive cases rushed to 21,296 with 1476 active cases. According to the official reports, 194 fresh, positive cases were reported on Monday, with the district's death toll standing at 290. Meanwhile, 19,530 people were recovered, including 105 who were discharged from the COVID hospital, informed the DPRO.
