The southwest monsoon would cover all parts of the State in the next two to three days, said the Regional Office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here on Sunday.

The IMD said the pre-monsoon shower, which has been experienced in many parts of the State, including the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, would create favourable conditions for the complete onset of the monsoon.

The weather office further said different districts are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall in the next five days.

On Monday, thunderstorms with lightning are very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts. Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Mayurbhanj, Boudh, Angul and Keonjhar.

On Tuesday, light to moderate rain or thunderstorms are very likely to occur at many places. Issuing a Yellow warning, the IMD said thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Baleswar, Cuttack, Kendrapada Jajpur, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Boudh, and Balangir.

Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kandhamal, Ganjam, Kendrapara Jajpur, Dhenkanal and Cuttack.

On Wednesday, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of coastal Odisha and at many places over the districts of interior Odisha. Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Boudh, Deogarh.

The rainfall and thunderstorm activities would continue in most of the districts till Friday, the IMD said.
