MP Assembly Speaker will attend CW Parliamentary conference

Speaker of Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Girish Gautam will attend the 65th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference which will  be held in Halifax, Canada from August 22 to 26, 2022.

Principal Secretary of Madhya Pradesh Vidhan Sabha A.P. Singh will also accompany. The Speaker and other team members will also visit Denmark, Norway and Germany during their stay abroad.

The theme of the 65th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference is 'Inclusive, Accessible, Responsible and Strong Parliament: A cornerstone of democracy and essential to development'.

In this conference, Speaker, on the first day on August 22, two sessions will be organized in each of the four workshops in the direction of the parliamentary tradition of Madhya Pradesh and the promotion of democratic values by the Madhya Pradesh Vidhan Sabha. This includes the role of Parliament in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, Sessions on COVID-19 - Remaining relevant in response to the pandemic: Role and Responsibilities of Parliament, A Lok Sansad: Accessibility through Innovation, Professional Development of Parliamentarians: Opportunities for Small Parliaments and important topics like challenges have been covered.

Delegation of Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly under the leadership of Speaker Girish Gautam will leave from Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi on August 20 and reach Halifax on August 22 via Toronto. In this, along with the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, the Presidents and Secretaries of Commonwealth countries will participate.
