The Department of Social Work, Indira Gandhi National Tribal University (IGNTU), Amarkantak, Madhya Pradesh organized the Induction Program for its 6th Batch of MSW Students from 17- 22 January 2022. The week long program was inaugurated by Prof. Ranju Hasini Sahoo the Head of the department Social Work and Dean Social Sciences. It is a unique attempt by the Department of Social Work to familiarize the students with the course and has been organized since inception of the Department. Resources Persons from various prestigious institutions and development sector were invited for the week long program to give a theoretical and practical training to the students. Dr. Anju Sosan George from Kerala, Dr. Ram Shepherd Bheenaveni from Texas University, USA, Dr. Mridusmita Duara, KKHSOU Assam, Swathi Murali from Haqdarshak Empowerment Solutions Pvt. Ltd. Bangalore, Dalton, Film Critic Delhi, Dr. V. Sayee Kumar, Counseling therapist, Chennai, Dr. Sreeni KR Payagri Innovation Solutions , IIT Madras, Dr. Jitendra Singh NCC Officer, IGNTU and Guddo, IGNTU were the speakers in the program. The speakers covered various topics in the program includes, soft skills, research, field work, social work methods, NCC, NSS etc.
The students acquired various skills includes, soft skills, research methods, role of social work in community development and community sensitization, role of professional social workers. The senior shared their experiences with the junior students.
While inaugurating the session the Head of the department Prof. Ranju Hasini Sahoo, stressed that this is an important event where the newly admitted students trained in many aspects which they are going to learn in coming two years, further Prof. Sahoo applauded the efforts of the Department and its activities in the campus. Participants expressed their happiness as they gained exposures on various themes.
