Bhupinder Singh Bhalla, a 1990 batch IAS officer has been appointed as the new Chairperson of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC). He succeeds Dharmendra, a 1989-batch officer, as the civic body Chairman. Bhalla, is currently Additional Chief Secretary of Delhi.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Friday issued an order to this effect. According to order issued by MHA, it is decided to appoint Bhupinder Singh Bhalla, IAS (AGMUT:1990), as Chairperson, New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) with effect from 27.05.2022.
“The notification (Hindi and English) issued in this regard is enclosed for its publication in Delhi Gazette, Extraordinary. It is further requested that Dharmendra, IAS (AGMUT:1989) may be relieved with effect from 27.05.2022. Further, Bhupinder Singh Bhalla may be directed to take over charge of post of Chairperson, NDMC Immediately,” the order further stated.
Bhalla succeeds Dharmendra, , a 1989-batch officer, as civic body chairman, who has worked over ten years in Urban Sector in Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Ministry of Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation, Government of India and DDA.
He has served in Delhi Government in capacity of Secretary (Environment and Forest) and also in department of Industries, Urban Development, Irrigation and Flood Control.
He was Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) New Delhi and North-West Delhi and was also Commissioner (Land Management) in DDA.
