Chhattisgarh Police on Sunday busted an online ‘satta’ (betting) racket operated from inside a car here and arrested nine persons.
Raipur Senior Superintendent of Police Prashant Agrawal identified them as Vijay Giri, Ayush Nirmal, Raj Yadav, Sunderlal Vishwakarma, S.A. Asif, Pramod Onwar, Akash Sharma, Dharmendra Singh and Ganesh Kumar, all from Durg district.
The accused were taking online bets on live cricket, ludo, casino, poker, football and other online gambling and betting games via Mahadev and Anna Reddy Book apps inside a car, the officer said.
The police raided them on Saturday night at a playground in Ganjpara area.
The police seized 10 mobile phones, six laptops, Rs 15,000 in cash and betting transaction records worth lakhs of rupees from them.
The police on Tuesday held 25 persons including two teens for operating online betting rackets via Mahadev and Anna Reddy Book apps and sites in Raipur. The Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Saturday asked the Director General of Police Ashok Juneja for stringent steps and legal provisions to control online gambling in Chhattisgarh.
