Only 13% people have taken booster dose

Friday, 05 August 2022 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

While the Government is repeatedly urging people to take the booster dose against Covid-19, only 13% of eligible people have been given the vaccination in the State so far.

Total 42,70,487 people have taken the third dose, leaving a whopping 87% unvaccinated. “Around 2.82 crore eligible people are yet to take the precautionary dose while 25 lakh people are yet to take their second shot of the vaccine,” said Health and Family Welfare Director Bijay Panigrahi on Thursday.

While expressing concern over people skipping the booster dose, Panigrahi said, “Less than 90% of people have taken their first doses in Cuttack, Khordha, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Puri and Angul districts.”

He urged people to take the vaccine before September 30.

The Centre announced a special drive 'Covid Vaccination Amrit Mahotsav' to be launched to provide free precaution doses at all Government Covid Vaccination Centres for persons aged 18 years and above for 75 days from July 15 to September 30, 2022.

Those eligible for the precaution dose include all persons above 18 years who have completed six months (or 26 weeks) from the date of administration of the second dose.
