Only 25 out of 10K testing Covid+ in State

Saturday, 18 June 2022 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

Even as the surge in Covid-19 cases in different parts of the country has triggered panic, Public Health Director Niranjan Mishra on Friday said the overall situation in the State is under control and there is no need to panic.

Notably, the State had recorded 20 cases on Wednesday but it doubled to 40 on Thursday. But it again declined to 20 on Friday.

However, Mishra said, “People having cold, cough and fever should isolate themselves and go for testing as precautionary measures to contain the disease. As of now, 25 out of 10,000 people going for tests have found Covid-19 positive. Positivity rate stands at 0.05 per cent.”

“The State will witness ups and downs in virus cases as Covid transmission is still happening. Cluster outbreak is going to happen. As maximum people have got vaccinated, the virus would not be able to make its presence felt in large numbers,” he added.

Meanwhile, district Collectors have been asked to conduct door-to-door surveys which would start from June 21 and continue till September.

Also, the Health Department has started carrying out surveillance and testing to contain the disease from making its presence felt.

According to the new guidelines released by the department, people with Covid symptoms are advised to go for immediate testing. Besides, people are asked to maintain social distance and wear masks at crowded places.
