WOMAN, SON FOUND DEAD AT FARMLAND IN KEONJHAR

Keonjhar: An elderly woman and her son were found dead under mysterious circumstances at a farmland near Jabinpur village under the Nandipada police limits in Keonjhar district on Tuesday. They were identified as Jema Das and her son Santa Das of Manoharpur village. Locals spotted the bodies in the morning and informed police. Cops recovered the bodies for postmortem and initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances under which the mother-son duo died. The two were financially poor and dependent on alms for survival, reports said.

 

1 KILLED, 2 HURT IN ROAD MISHAP IN BALANGA

Balanga: In a road accident at Haripur, a person was killed and two others were injured and more than 10 bicycles and two motorbikes were damaged on the Pipili-Nimapara road under the Balanga police station on Monday. Niranjan Baral of village Sahanisahi under the Balipatna PS was returning home from Nimapara. At Haripur Chhak, he talked to a relative on roadside. A car hit Niranjan and the two other persons. The injured were rescued by locals and sent to the Pipili Hospital, where a doctor declared Niranjan brought dead. The injured were referred to the Unit-6 Hospital, Bhubaneswar. Due to the accident 10 bicycles and two bikes parked on the roadside were damaged.

 

B’PUR POLICE HOLD TRAINING ON CYBER SECURITY  (Pix)

Brahmapur: A training and awareness session on cyber security was conducted by the Brahmapur police here on Monday. The training covered dos and don'ts of using multimedia devices and safe utilisation of digital space. The training was conducted for students of the JN Tata Technical Education Centre, Mandiapally near here. Inspector Avinash Reddy, SI Sofia Mishra and ASI Puspa Mallik took the awareness classes, in which around 80 students participated. Assistant Principal Namita Choudhary coordinated the training.

 

FRIENDS HELPING CLUB HOLDS EYE DONATION DRIVE  (Pix)

Brahmapur: Members of the Friends Helping Club here on Monday successfully mobilised deceased K Visweswar Rao’s (77) family to donate his eyes for public purpose. Accordingly, MKCG Medical College Hospital Eye Department doctors Soubhagya Ranjan Panda, Rajesh Shetty and Gourang collected both the corneas from his home at Prem Nagar. The deceased is survived by his wife Vidyavati and two sons Charan Kumar and Radhakrushna Prasad. Since last few years, the Friends Helping Club has been campaigning for donation of eyes of deceased persons.

 

237 BLOOD UNITS COLLECTED AT TATA STEEL CAMP  (Pix)

Dhenkanal: A blood donation camp was held at the Tata Steel Meramandali on the World Blood Donor Day on Tuesday where 237 units of blood were collected.

Paradip: Paradip participants have won five gold, four silver and 20 bronze medals in the All Odisha open traditional Shotokon Karate Federation of India (TSKFI) championship held at Cuttack. IGKA Odisha’s Rudraditya Sahoo, Aditi Panigrahi, Om Bishnu Prasad Sahoo, Baishnabi Hansda and Biswajit Barik won gold medals and Antaryami Khilar, Raghunath Parida, Rahul Bhoi, Biswanath Parida won silver medals. Ankit Barik, Omm Prakash Sahoo, Sushil Kumar Samantaray, Sankar Charan Bhoi, Rajendra Majhi, Snehanshu Mallick and Subhasmita Mallick achieved bronze medals. The team officials were Rashmi Ranjan Mallick, Jadu Hansda, Kishan Kumar Jaiswal and Sudhanshu Barik. IGKA Odisha Karate State secretary and chief instructor Sanjay Saha and organising secretary Sanjay Kumar Mishra congratulated the winners. 

 

JSW IRON ORE MINE BAGS ENVIRONMENT AWARD  (Pix)

Bhubaneswar: The JSW Steel’s Jajang iron ore mine has bagged the Kalinga Environment Excellence Award in the Five-Star (highest conferred) category for the performance year 2021 for its best practices in environmental management. The award was given away during a ceremony of the national seminar on sustainable environment and climate change held in Bhubaneswar recently organised by IQEMS.

JSW AVP (mines operation) Ram Sharma received the award.
