K’HANDI CLERK HELD TAKING BRIBE FROM EX-HM  (Pix)

Bhawanipatna: The Vigilance police on Friday arrested Judhisthir Harijan, Head Clerk in the Block Education Office of Kalampur, for demanding a bribe of Rs 13,000 from retired headmaster Gunanidhi Naik to release his GPF. He was caught him red-handed while accepting the bribe. Later, Vigilance personnel conducted raids in his residential house at Mathura and office room at Kalampur.

 

MINOR GIRL ELECTROCUTED IN JSPUR
Jagatsinghpur: A 12-year-old girl was electrocuted in Ramatola village in the Balikuda area on Thursday. She was identified as Priyanka Ojha, a Class-VII student, who came in contact with a live electric wire while she was wandering in the housetop. She fell down on the ground and went unconscious. She was shifted to the Balikuda Hospital, where she was declared brought dead.

 
MISCREANTS LOOT GOREKHANATH TEMPLE HUNDI
Jagatsinghpur: Three miscreants looted approximately Rs 10 lakh from a Hundi at the Gorekhanath temple in Kerakera village under Raghunathpur block on Wednesday. According to a police complaint, three Hundis are installed in the temple and the Hundi 2 was looted. Temple management committee executive officer Souryaranjan Parija lodged the FIR in the Tirtol police station. Cops started investigation deploying a sniffer dog and a scientific team and examining the CCTV footages.

 

SAHU K’PADA COOP SOCIETY CHIEF FOR FIFTH TIME  (Pix)

Kendrapada: Popular cooperation movement activist Pramod Kumar Sahu has become President of the Kendrapada Credit Cooperative Society Limited for the fifth time as he was uncontested in the election. Earlier, all the directors of 15 zones of the societies had been elected uncontested. Sahu said he would try to develop the society and provide benefits to its members and card holders. He and other directors would visit Bangladesh for firsthand knowledge about Professor Mohammad Yunus's modern technology-based Grameen Bikash Bank for adopting it here.

 

NALCO EVENT FOR PROMOTION OF RAJBHASA  (Pix)

Bhubaneswar: The National Aluminum Company Limited (Nalco), as the Chairman's Office for Town Official Language Implementation Committee (TOLIC) constituted under the directions of the Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs, GOI, organised a quiz competition to promote the usage of Hindi language and as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. Chief guest Nalco CMD and TOLIC (U) Chairman Sridhar Patra addressed the gathering and said, “Language is a symbol of our cultural heritage, taking out time from our daily schedule and participating in official language programs is the moral and constitutional onus of every Indian.”
