People, mostly the elderly morning walkers, have opposed double standard of Dhanbad Municipal Corporation (DMC) since it decided to realise user charges from those using Randhir Verma stadium(RVS) for the same for using its walking track and open jimnasium.
The corporation notified realising Rs 15 per day per person for the same here and since the notification was issued and charges were applied people started opposing it .
" Its double standard of corporation has no such charges being taken from those using the walking track and yoga park at Bekar bandh also known as Rajendra sharowar " ,said one of the morning walkers Manoranjan Singh.
Both have been developed by DMC and the difference is that one was commissioned during NDA rule and the other one has been commissioned a few.months ago, told another morning walker septuagenarian Anil Padey. Former mayor CS Agarwal had waived charges from morning walkers at Bekar Bandh and only picnickers were asked to lay entry fee, said Pandey.
It's not only these but social organisation Rising Charitable Society (RCS) but political parties like congress too have opposed the imposition of user charges at RVS .
Coordinator of RCS Rajan Sinha in separate letters to DC and municipal commissioner of DMC has requested to waive the user charges from those who come for walk between 5Am to 8 AM . In a separate letter to former Mayor as well as Dhanbad MLA Raj Sinha he has requested them to intervene in larger public interest .
Similar demand has been made by district congress chief BP Singh in this regard.
Terming the order as anti people Singh said , "Now DMC has imposed tax on people willing to stay healthy". He demanded immediate roll back of charges from morning walkers .
The DMC commissioner could not be reached for his comments on this issue.
