Piped Natural Gas reaches another Residential Complex in Kadma

GAIL (India) Limited today launched a project to supply Piped Natural Gas (PNG) at Tata Steel Residential Complex in Kadma area.

The project was inaugurated by Chanakya Chaudhary, vice president, corporate services, Tata Steel in presence of Gaurishankar Mishra, general manager, CGD Project/GA In-Charge, GAIL, Sanjeev Kumar Choudhary, president, Tata Workers’ Union (TWU) among other senior TWU office-bearers at Professional Flats (Block C), Kadma. PNG is one of the more efficient and green fossil fuels and reduces the dependency on other fossil fuels.

The event marked another significant milestone in the spread of the Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga Project at Jamshedpur. Till FY2022-23, GAIL is committed to energise the 1000 kitchens and to develop infrastructure for PNG to 5000 households in Tata Steel Residential Colony areas. Presently 1000 domestic consumers of Sonari area are getting the eco-friendly, economical and clean fuel through Decompression unit (DCU) set up near Tribal Culture Centre, Sonari.

The project would ensure continuous supply of cooking gas (no pilferage) while payment by respective customers will be on actual consumption basis. Besides, it is safe, convenient, eco-friendly and economical for the users.

In FY23, there are plans to cover ECC Flats, Prakriti Vihar, Professional flat-A & B, KF-2 flat and Kaiser Bungalow etc.

GAIL (India) Limited is India’s leading natural gas company with diversified interests across the natural gas value chain and operates a network of around 14,381 km of natural gas pipelines spread across the length and breadth of the country.

It is also working concurrently on the execution of “Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga Natural Gas Pipeline Project” also referred to as the “Jagdishpur-Haldia Bokaro-Dhamra Natural Gas Pipeline (JHBDPL) Project”. The project is of an estimated length of 2540-KM and is intended to connect the eastern part of the country with the National Gas Grid to fulfil the energy requirement of Eastern States.

GAIL (India) Limited has also been given responsibility by Government of India to develop end-routes City Gas Distribution Projects at Varanasi, Patna, Jamshedpur, Ranchi, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack as part of “Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga Project”.
