PLEDGE TO PROTECT TREES ON FRIENDSHIP DAY

Trees are the real friends of human beings. When we plant a tree, we plant a life. Trees help us provide oxygen, absorb carbon dioxide and offer countless other benefits. This was stated by speakers at the Friendship Day celebration organised by Sahajya at Kargil Road here on Saturday. The participants took pledge to protect trees and tied friendship band to trees. At the meeting presided over by Sahajya president Dr Lingaraj Sahoo, preacher Maharshi Nachiketa, Ramesh Nanda, Saroj Sahoo, Pramod Das and Chittaranjan Bhanja urged the younger generation to save the environment.

 

Cabinet swearing-in at DAV Pokhariput 

Bhubaneswar: The DAV Public School, Pokhariput, Bhubaneswar conducted swearing-in ceremony of the newly-selected members of the school cabinet for 2022-23 on Friday. The programme began with Shloka chanting. Charges were handed over by the outgoing members of the cabinet to the new members. Principal Dr Sujata administered the oath to the new cabinet. Chief guest Sqn Leader Amrit Khuntia, Commanding Officer 1(0) Air Sqn, NCC, Bhubaneswar, urged the cabinet to create and sustain the dignity of leadership. The programme ended with a vote of thanks by cabinet coordinator Jharna Mishra.

 

SNLF HOLDS SENIOR CITIZENS’ CAMP 

Bhubaneswar: The Satyanagar Ladies’ Forum (SNLF) on Saturday organised a camp for identification and health checkup for local senior citizens at the Royal Lagoon Apartment. Forum members Sovedita Roy, Davinder Kaur, Kajal Mohapatra and Abinash Choudhury actively participated in the programme. Fifty senior citizens’ cards were registered. Nandankan police station IIC Senapati explained the benefits of the cars. Forum secretary Anuradha Dash coordinated the programme.

 

TUMOUR REMOVED FROM DOG AT SOA VET HOSP

Bhubaneswar: Vets at the SOA Urban Veterinary Hospital at Nuagaon here have surgically operated on a golden retriever dog to remove a large lump from its lower abdomen. The dog, which was in great discomfort, had been brought to the hospital on July 28 by its owner; and on examination, it was found that there was an abnormal growth on its right lower abdomen. The swelling appeared to be a lipoma (a fatty mass or lump) situated between the skin and the underlying muscle layer. The treating vets decided to undertake surgical intervention on July 29.

 

2 YOUTHS HELD FOR DRUG SALE  IN PRADIP

Paradip: The Paradip Model police arrested two youths on the charge of selling brown sugar on Friday and prosecuted them. The accused were Lalatendu Mohanty (27) of Marichipur under the Balikuda police station of Jagatsinghpur district and Satosh Gochayat (23) of Panchpada village under the Malangpur PS of Jajpur district. Police caught them red-handed. In the presence of a magistrate, 6.6 grams of brown sugar and cash worth Rs 1,070 were seized from them. Both were sent to the Kujang court.
