TAKE ACTION AGAINST SIDHU'S AIDE FOR ALLEGED HATE SPEECH: BJP URGES EC

BJP’s poll campaign in-charge for Punjab and Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Monday requested the Election Commission to take action on state Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu’s chief principal strategist and former DGP Mohammad Mustafa for his alleged “hate speech”. “We have urged the ECI to act against ex-Punjab DGP Mustafa for making a provocative speech in Malerkotla on January 20. In a statement, he said, ‘I swear by Allah, I'll not let them organise any political event. I'm a soldier of community’,” said Shekhawat.

 

KHAIRA DARES RANA GURJeeT TO WITHDRAW HIS SON’S CANDIDATURE AS INDEPENDENT

A day after senior Congress leader and Punjab Cabinet Minister Rana Gurjeet Singh demanded the expulsion of his party’s candidate from Bholath Sukhpal Singh Khaira for his alleged involvement in ‘drug money’ laundering, two-time MLA Khaira on Monday dared the Minister to first withdraw his son as an independent candidate against the sitting Congress MLA in Sultanpur Lodhi. “Rana Gurjit should first withdraw his son as an independent candidate,” he said. Rana Gurjit, in a letter to Sonia Gandhi on Sunday, had highlighted that Khaira is a “habitual turncoat” who switched over to Congress after winning the last Assembly polls on an AAP ticket.

 

AAP given NOTICE FOR FLOUTING COVID NORMS

A day after AAP’s chief ministerial candidate Bhagwant Singh Mann launched his campaign for February 20 polls from Dhuri assembly seat, the Sub-Divisional Magistrates of Sangrur and Dhuri on Monday issued notices to the party for violating COVID-19 norms during election rallies. A large crowd had welcomed Mann in various villages, raising slogans, and showering flowers. The party claimed that they had invited only a few locals but a large number turned out as the news of his visit spread on social media.
