Punjab reports 30 deaths, 5664 fresh Covid cases

Punjab on Sunday registered 30 fatalities and 5664 fresh cases of COVID-19.

The daily positivity rate of 13.28 percent was recorded in the state. Among 30 fatalities, seven were reported in Ludhiana, five in Jalandhar, three each in Pathankot and SAS Nagar, two in Hoshiarpur and one death each in Amritsar, Barnala, Bathinda, Faridkot, Ferozepur, Gurdaspur, Muktsar Sahib, Sangrur, Patiala and Tarn Taran, stated the state’s health bulletin.

A highest of 1084 fresh infections were reported in SAS Nagar followed by 836 cases in Ludhiana and 703 cases in Jalandhar.

 There were 46472 active cases in the state. Among them, 1130 were on oxygen support, 326 in critical care facilities and 109 on ventilator support, the bulletin said.

7660 patients also recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours. The state’s COVID-19 tally has reached 713445, while the state’s death toll stood at 16978.

12 deaths, 7516 cases reported in Haryana. Haryana on Sunday reported 12 more deaths and 7516 new COVID-19 cases, with a daily positivity rate of 20.45 percent

The state also reported 7683 recoveries, more than the fresh cases in the last 24 hours. The death toll due to COVID in the state has reached 10177 and cumulative case tally stood at 840866, according to the state’s health bulletin.

As per the bulletin, five deaths were reported in Karnal, two deaths in Faridabad, one fatality each in Gurugram, Panchkula, Ambala, Yamunanagar and Jind in the last 24 hours.

A highest number of 2102 positive cases were reported in Gurugram followed by 1232 cases in Faridabad and 615 cases in Panchkula. Among other districts, 560 cases were reported in Sonepat, 366 in Hisar, 341 in Ambala, 245 in Panipat, 208 in Karnal, 203 in Yamunanagar.

There were 57753 active cases in the state.

The COVID-19 recovery rate stood at 92.52 percent and the fatality rate was reported at 1.12 percent in the state, the bulletin added.

Himachal reports two deaths, 755 fresh cases

Two more people succumbed to COVID-19 in Himachal Pradesh on Sunday pushing the death toll to 3916 while the state recorded 755 new COVID-19 cases as the infection tally rose to 260321.

According to the state’s health bulletin, an 87-year-old woman in Mandi and a 90-year-old man in Kangra succumbed to the virus.

Being a Sunday, only 4,130 samples were tested in the state as compared to 11,565, 12,283 and 12,817 on Saturday, Friday and Thursday.

The highest 151 new cases were reported from Kangra, followed by 124 in Shimla, 121 in Solan, 87 in Sirmaur, 83 in Mandi, 72 in Hamirpur, and 63 in Una among other places. The number of active COVID-19 cases in the state decreased to 16821 from 17295 on Saturday, the bulletin stated.

Besides, 1227 more patients recovered from the viral disease. With this, the total number of recoveries in Himachal Pradesh stands at 239550.

Chandigarh registers two deaths, 808 fresh infections

Chandigarh on Sunday reported two deaths and 808 new COVID-19 cases.

The city reported 8064 active cases and the positivity rate stood at 19.82 per cent.

As per the city’s health bulletin, a 69 years old female resident of Sector 45 expired due to COVID. She was comorbid and not vaccinated for the virus. A 91 years old male resident of Khuda Alisher died at GMSH-16. He was also not vaccinated for COVID.
