Punjab Vigilance Bureau on Wednesday registered a corruption case against
Constable Inderjit Singh, posted in special branch, SSP office, Ferozepur, for accepting a bribe
of Rs two lakh and further demanding Rs five lakh. Spokesperson said that the accused
Constable Inderjit Singh has been booked under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act
after the investigation report prepared on the basis of a complaint lodged by one Janak Raj of
Panje Ki Uttar village in Ferozepur district on State Anti-Corruption Helpline. In this regard, a
FIR has been registered at VB Police Station Ferozepur. Complainant, in his online complaint,
alleged that the said constable was demanding bribe and threatening him to book in a false
case for storing liquor made for Chandigarh. The complainant has submitted that the accused
Constable has already taken Rs two lakh in this regard and demanded Rs five lakh more as a
bribe thereby recording the conversation on his phone.
