Raghubar targets Govt for minority appeasement

Tuesday, 26 April 2022 | PNS | Ranchi

The State BJP today targeted the JMM/Congress government for minority appeasement in State. Addressing a press conference at party office, former Chief Minister Raghubar Das said that in State Muslims are trapping tribal girls in ‘Love Jihad’ in Ranchi, Lohardaga, Jamtara, Pakur, Sahibganj and Dumka besides other parts of the State to grab tribal land.

However, the State government, instead of taking measures to stop the illegal religious conversion, has also removed the religion column from the caste certificate to promote the act, by which one day tribals will reduce to the minority.

Das, presenting another example, said the State government filed an affidavit in the High Court terming that order of BJP government, by which Moolvasis and Adivasis were given priority in appointment in class III and IV government jobs for 10 years, was wrong.

The former chief minister also said that in the State trees are being felled in the forest illegally, government land is being grabbed and there is a crisis of water. He said the level of corruption is so high that no work is being done without the payment of a bribe. He said recently district forest officials have asked the deputy commissioner in Dumka to take action of ousting three youths who are involved in the illegal transportation of coal under the patronage of powerful people in the State.

Former Chief Minister Raghubar Das had brought the Jharkhand Religious Freedom Bill of 2017 which bars religious conversion by force or allurement and provides a jail term of three years and Rs 50,000 penalty for the guilty. The forceful conversion of minors and women from tribal communities is a punishable offence with a four-year jail term and Rs 1 lakh penalty.

Das said to ensure the proper right to Sarna he had introduced a religion column in the caste certificate but the incumbent government under the influence of Christian missionary silently removed the column on February 24 this year and paved the path for getting government jobs to those tribals who after converting their religion are taking benefit of being tribals and minority at the same time.

He also said that tribals voted JMM to power for the protection of “Abua Dishum” and “Jal, Jungle and Jameen” but it is misusing his power and has done nothing in this direction.

The former chief minister also attacked the JMM government for promoting dynastic politics in the State.
