Jharkhand is likely to experience rainy weather in the next couple of days due to a western disturbance passing through north Pakistan, extending between 3.1km and 7.6km above mean sea level.
This western disturbance has drifted to Jharkhand via Madhya Pradesh.
Jharkhand witnessed an unusual weather change on Saturday after the sky became cloudy leading to a drop in the temperature.
On Sunday the sky remained cloudy in Palamu and Garhwa as districts of the Palamu division were first to witness the impact of the weather change. And very quickly several places namely Jamshedpur, Ranchi, Hazaribagh, Chatra, etc reported early morning fog which also reduced visibility.
On Monday, the western disturbance triggered a light to moderate rain.
IMD's Ranchi Meteorological Centre said that an induced cyclonic circulation formed over eastern Rajasthan, extending up to 1.5 km above mean sea level. That cyclonic circulation has caused a situation of light to moderate rain in several parts of northern and central Jharkhand on Monday as well as Tuesday. Ranchi Meteorological Centre has also said that rainfall may take place till Saturday at many places across Jharkhand with thunderstorms and hail. The weather may improve on January 16.
Life came to a standstill due to bad weather. There was less traffic on the road and the offices witnessed low attendance. There is no report of the cancellation and diversion of any flight but the number of passengers remained very less.
