Local POCSO Court Special Judge Bhaskar Chandra Sahu has convicted a rape accused in Kandhamal district and sentenced him to 10 years of imprisonment.
Mukund Mallick had allegedly raped a minor girl reading in Class-VII on November 16, 2016 in a forest and threatened her not to disclose the matter. The victim’s family members lodged an FIR about the incident at the Kotagarh police station.
After examining 14 witnesses, the doctor’s report and other evidences, the court awarded the punishment besides imposing Rs 50,000 fine and in default to undergo another six months’ jail term. Special Public Prosecutor Banamali Behera conducted the case for the victim.
