The prestigious 'Kanhei Katha Puraskar' would be bestowed upon noted story writer Biraja Rautray on July 24.
This was announced on Sunday following his nomination in a meeting which was attended by several writers including Utpal Mohanty and Ranjan Baug.
The award contains a citation in recognition towards his contribution to the literary field and a sum of Rs 10,000.
The award instituted in name of writer Kanheilal Das is given to the writers below the age of 50 years. Kanheilal, a booming writer, had died at an early age of 28 years.
Working president of the Kanheilal Smruti Sansad, poet Krushna Kumar Mohanty informed that the jury that decided the name of Routray comprised Prof Subash Patra, Gautambudhha Das and Sridev, besides himself.
Notably, Rautray, a native of Kendrapada and presently serving as Additional Sub Collector at Kendrapada, has authored 11 books, including six story books.
