District wise Deoghar recorded the highest voter turnout of 79.18%. The State Election Commission said that under the three-tier Panchayat elections in Jharkhand, the polling in the third phase of 8704 seats had been completed peacefully on Tuesday.

In the voting held in 1047 panchayats of 70 blocks of 19 districts of the state, 70.54 percent votes exercised their franchise. The highest polling was 79.18 percent in Deoghar panchayats and the lowest was 61.30 percent in Gumla panchayats.

An SEC official said, “the large turnout of voters in the third phase of election reflects that people are more interested in electing their local representatives. This large turnout of voters came at the time when a large number of booths were declared sensitive and hypersensitive.”

However, like other two phases 5,950 candidates have been declared winners uncontested. The four phase panchayat polls are being held without party lines.

The State Election Commission had set up 12,912 polling booths in the third phase out of which 6,021 were declared sensitive while 3,804 as hyper sensitive.large number of security forces were deployed at polling booths.

Adequate security arrangements were made both for the electors and the polling personnel. Security personnels were deployed at all polling stations to conduct peaceful polling.
